The Government announcement today puts to bed any fears there would be one super hospital serving both Lancaster and Preston miles from most residents.
The health secretary has confirmed we will have two brand new hospitals at two new sites replacing the Royal Preston Hospital and Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
I understand the new Royal Preston will be based in South Ribble.
This great news has kept a government promise to modernise the NHS in South Ribble with a once-in-a-generation investment.
We now need to finalise the South Ribble site and get on with construction.
